Trackside Operations Director Alan Permane has 24 years’ experience with the team.

In 1989 he joined Benetton as an Electronic Technician, moving to the race team for the 1992 season.

By 1996 he had become Assistant Race Engineer, working with Pat Symonds on Jean Alesi’s car graduating to the position of full Race Engineer for the same driver one season later.

Alan held that same position for Giancarlo Fisichella between 1998-2001, Jarno Trulli from 2002-2004 and Fisichella once again in 2005-2006.

In 2007 he became the team’s Chief Race Engineer, subsequently being appointed to his current position of Trackside Operations Director part way through the 2011 season.
